In-service Teacher Training

    PHZ Schwyz offers a wide range of in-service training to pre-school, primary and lower secondary teachers. The courses aim to support teachers in their further professional development.

    Specialisation courses

    PHZ Schwyz offers specialisation courses comprising of 5-6 modules to provide teachers with the opportunity to specialise in a specific field and develop a special profile within their team of teachers.
    The following specialisation courses are offered as in-service teacher training courses:

    • ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and Media Education
    • Exhibiting and communicating
    • Adventure-based education

    Supplementary courses

    Supplementary courses are based on a successfully completed teacher training education and lead to a specialised job or leading position.

    To be accepted on such courses, the participants are generally required to have completed a basic teacher training course followed by at least two years on the job experience.  The participants pay for the supplementary courses. The canton or community may decide to participate in the costs for teachers employed in the canton or community.

    PHZ offers the following supplementary courses:

    CAS (Certificate of Advanced Studies)

    min. 10 ECTS credits, 250-300 hours of study

    • CAS E-Learning at Universities (for lecturers at universities, universities of applied sciences and teacher training universities)
    • CAS Ethics, Philosophy, Religions, Culture
    • CAS Music and Drama
    • CAS ICT in Education
    • CAS Mixed Age-groups in Initial Schooling (from 2009)
    • NDK Trainer for Teaching Practice
    • CAS Health Education

    MAS (Master of Advanced Studies)

    min. 60 ECTS credits, 1500-1800 hours of study

    • MAS Educational Technology (ICT in Education)
    • MAS in Teacher Education (for lecturers at teacher training universities)
    • MAS in Inclusive Education
    • MAS School Management

    Master

    90-120 ECTS credits, 1.5 to 2 years full-time course

    • Master Special Needs Education
